Star Fox 64 3D complete review

Star Fox 64 3D, classic comes back to life. 14 years since it appeared on Nintendo 63. My first question was if it lives up to the original game. I was skeptic about the 3D part, but that soon changed, and I really liked the game. Star Fox 64 3D is a simulation/shooter game. That is the best way to describe it. You are Fox McCloud and you shoot your way through some intense levels in order to save Lylat [...]

Grand Epic Online (GEO) review by active gamers

Grand Epic Online (GEO) review by active gamers

When I heard of this game I was a bit skeptic. The reason for that is that I played a lot of them, and none of them got my attention. So, I got on the Grand Epic web site, and tried it. First thing you notice is character creation. You see all those nice graphics and you can’t believe that you will be playing that character (It looks too good to be true).

So, what do we have? There are 4 classes, and you can choose to be male or female (logic). The classes are typical for most RPG based games. It is only they are called different name. So, you have Flower valley which use bow for ranged weapons and can heal. Next one is Shu Mountain which use sword for attacking, and they are something like classic fighters with a possibility to drain mana. Then we have Tianmu Cave, mighty fighters with unmatched fighting skills. They use broadsword and can go to berserk. Last but not least is Herming Mountain, which is typical mages. They use a rod and are very powerful using magic to kill their opponents. When you make a character you go inside one of the 3 servers. There is not much difference, so you can choose any.

Graphics:

Once I logged in, I noticed a beautiful looking graphics. It is no match to any client based MMORPG, but it is alluring, and it looks pretty. I am thinking that it would be really hard to optimize the game for browsers if it had amazing graphics. In general it is a standard 2D game with anime elements. Some people could expect more, but I’m really satisfied with it. One thing I would like to add that the game should have been optimized better. Because of that graphics load slow, and you can get blur effects in front of you.

Sound:

Ok, this is the part when you start to ask yourself if you want to play this game, since our ear is a powerful organ, even if we use our eyes to percept mostly everything. But, it is our ear that pulls us to the imaginary, it fuels our imagination. Grand Epic online lacks that because it is limited with few sound effects and poor music. It may not sound that much, but if you play it for few hours it can get really annoying.

Gameplay:

There is not much I can say about gameplay. It is standard RPG based gameplay. You can move your character with W, A, S, D buttons or you can use your mouse for that. Fighting is click based and you can use your special skills with numbers.

Pets and mounts:

Good thing about Grand Epic Online is that they added mounts and pets. It is getting more and more common to have mounts and/or pets in online gaming. Here we have a strange system for mounts. You need to get some rare materials in order to make a decent looking mount but, that is not all, the success rate is horrible. There are some mounts that have success rate really low and, almost impossible (1% for example).

In general, this is a fun game, but it needs a lot of improvement to be the game you want to play a lot of time. So, if you have high expectations, or you want to play this game instead of some other, client based MMORPG, I suggest you don’t do it but, if you want to have some fun, than be my guest.

Details about Battlestar Galactica Online Game

Details about Battlestar Galactica Online Game

Epic battle between the humans and machines took in The Battlestar Galactica TV series and drew a lot of attention. Good news for fans is that there is a game Battlestar Galactica Online which continues where the TV series ended; after the destruction of Cylon resurrection ship. So, what comes next is that Cylons and humans engaged in battle and when humans tried to escape, both fractions jumped through the hyperspace to a distant, unknown quadrant. Both fleets are out of resources and badly damaged, so this game is mostly resource gathering based. When you make an account, you can choose which side you are going to be.

Gameplay:

The Gameplay is two fold, you gather resources and engage in space combat. You spend most of your time on ship, and when you are docked at your base, you go on solo mode where you can buy, sell, repair or get new missions, and that is all. There is not much to explore, not much to do when you are out of your ship. You have 3 ship classes; heavy, medium and light, and each fraction have 3 ships in each weight class. You start off with light weight class, as you progress you get more resources and new ships. The ships are upgradeable and you can add new guns, engine, or computer.

Space battles are awesome. PVP action is great, but the game lacks some PVE experience. Most solo missions take you on some missions where you have to scan asteroids, gather resources, patrol areas etc. I must say that I am impressed with space battles, but I think there should be more interesting missions for those who want get tired of PVP.

Graphics:

Graphics is amazing. That is the least I can say about it. Space graphics are so good that you don’t want to land on the base, because the graphics there is not that good. There is a different story when you take off; beautiful, realistic looking star systems, asteroid belts, they all look outstanding. Ship details are great, they look really good. Sometimes when I fly in fleet, I take a look at the other ships because they look damn good. Explosions are good too, they look realistic.

Sound:

One more component of the game I really like. Unlike some other browser based games, music on Battlestar Galactica is great, thanks to soundtrack from TV series. Combat music gets you amped up and ready to fight. I really like this aspect of the game, especially in combat.

Batman: Arkham City preview by games critic

Batman: Arkham City preview by games critic

Batman Arkham Asylum was one of the best third person action games I’ve ever played. When I heard that Rocksteady is making another sequel I was thrilled. Even at the first look at trailers you can see that it will be another good game.

Arkham is now expanded into a part of town. Quincy Sharp, new mayor of Gotham opened Arkham and lunatics took over asylum. That part of town is completely in hands of Batman. Now you have a part of town where you can glide using your cape, or you can go on many side missions. Now you can get new missions from people in town and the game life is around 25 hours, which is quite good for an action game of this kind. Quincy has backed down from running the city and let the Dr. Hugo to run the town by organizing the criminals.

So, as we could see at demo that Hugo has set up the medical centre in a church and he is gathering the worst criminals Gotham can offer. One thing that is good is that every district owned by some of the villains is affected by it, for example the building Two-Face’s district are half corrupted.

City has changed a lot, but Batman stays the same. I think it is the best, since this Batman looks good enough. The thing they changed is that they added more actions with gadgets and more combos.  Combat system didn’t change. Another good thing if you ask me. I like how they kept the best things from first Batman. There is also one thing I think they did smart. Since there was a lot of gamers that used a detective mode throughout whole game (which was stupid if you ask me) they decided to change that a bit. Don’t worry, you will still have detective mode, but it won’t be that useful in combat. What they made is an X-ray view, and it has the same usage as Detective mode, you find clues, and follow it with X- ray but, the view is blurred and it is not good for usage in combat. I’m glad that developers think on those small details that show that they want to make the game that will be remembered.

Since there is a bunch of criminals wandering Gotham City it is fair that Batman gets some help. Well, I must say I’m not surprised, I could have expected this. So, we get Robin and Catwoman. While Robin is only there as help on challenge maps, Catwoman is completely playable. She can do most stuff Batman does, but sometimes elegance is better.

So far I’ve seen some really cool stuff about new Batman, like the fact that you can now fly around the whole city, or you get some new moves which leads to more action and possibly to more interesting game. I liked Arkham Asylum a lot, and I think that Arham City is going to be another interesting game with lots of action. Why to change something that is good?

Review Of Call of Duty

Review Of Call of Duty

Action or War genre in games is the bestseller genre of all times. When you’re talking about the games based on the World war concept, you can’t ignore the master piece – Call of Duty. This eye-opening, visually explosive game was first released in Oct 29, 2003 by Ben Chichoski. CoD was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. After its first release, though it had some glitches, the game never looked back. One after the other, the makers kept on developing the game which now has become a spectacle. The first volume was designed for PCs only, but later theses games were made for PSP and X-box consoles as well.

After the 2003 edition, the CoD franchise launched quite a few versions. Learning from their mistakes, one by one they got rid of all the bugs and the latest version – The Modern warfare 3 is a living example. The releases were well spaced giving enough time to the players to master one, before plunging to another. CoD 2 came in 2005 followed by the version 3 in the late 2006. Then was the time for the first installment to the main series, named as CoD – World at War which came in 2008. The world war scenario by then had become a clichéd campaign, familiar ambience and hence, CoD needed something different in their plot. This brought in the version Black Ops which was based on the Cold war and the Vietnam War. Now was the time to shift from the World War II scenario, and hence the makers focused on a new Modern Warfare series. This was the first to ever have nothing to do with World War II.

Modern warfare 3 is the latest of all and simply the best, one can easily say. With Infinity Ward behind their exemplary VFX, and Hollywood actors like Timothy Olyphant behind the mike; what else can you demand for in an action game? Sincerely speaking, this game has more than you can possibly imagine.

Some games are first person shooter and some are third person shooter enabled. Hence, this series has it all, to say the least. To be a gunner of an A C130 Gunship, is one hell of an experience and this is what is on offer at the latest CoD Modern Warfare 3 version. The campaign in this game brings you to the edge of your seat, and this is just the beginning of the game. If you are in for some adrenaline rush, this is precisely your deal.

Review Of Unreal Tournament

Review Of Unreal Tournament

Do you like aliens? You can answer this question only if you have seen one, which is highly uncertain. There are a lot of stories about the UFOs evincing their existence to the human species, but only those who have seen them believe in them. The point is, why not play with some aliens and see for ourselves? Absolutely, Unreal tournament is a FPS- first player shooter- game which offers this opportunity. As its name suggests, you get a chance to fight it out with the legendary warriors, be it human or in-human. This game is a baby of Epic games and Digital extremes which was launched by GT Interactive in 1999. The game was designed to shift all the gamers’ attention to multi player action.

UT was made to make players play one on one, head to head multi player death matches. It is one of those FPS games, where one will never be bored while playing. The best part of the game is its variety in stages, players and three dimensional arenas. Human characters comprises of mercenaries, commandos, soldiers, and marines. Other groups comprise of raw steel, metal guards- psychotic people and Venom- group of feminine characters. Skaarj Hybrid is partly human and partly alien creatures who were created by conducting experiments on captured aliens after the Skaarj war. These creatures are considered to be more powerful than the humans. This kind of versatile characterization gives the game its stand out quality and uniqueness.

Flying body parts, splashing blood, explosions, crisp digital sound, violence from women, sound of rocket launchers, encouraging auto voice is what you get out of this freaking unreal ordeal. You asked for action and action is what you get.

UT is also accompanied by different play modes. It includes the traditional capture the flag game where you and your team have to dominate a certain given area, without the opposite team players having any access. “Assault” is another objective where it’s a gruesome battle between two teams in an enclosed level. The game has gained its three quarters of fan following by the multi player online version, which has tournaments and one-on-one face-offs, whatever interests you. Being one amongst the top rankers of the online UT fraternity is no less than a substantial recognition; people play their hearts out and have no track of time when UT is running on their screens.

Review Of Counter Strike

Review Of Counter Strike

Valve Corporation is behind the bad baby called – Counter Strike. CS as it is referred to by the gamers is a first shooter game, in which you can either play as a Good guy- Anti Terrorist squad- or as a bad guy- the Terrorist team. You can also be a spectator and dodge yourself from being shot, but this isn’t fun as you are deprived of any weapons. The game was released by Planet Half-Life 11 years ago and now, in 2011 the CS franchise has sold over 25 million units.

CS is accounted for its fan following from the year 1999; has developed 6 versions known as beta versions. CS version 1.1 came in 2001 and developed to the version 1.6 in 2003, step by step. During 2004, the game saw a break through by the releases like Counter Strike- Source, Counter Strike- Online and the latest being Counter Strike- Global Offensive. The first release, Counter strike – source came in 2004 used the best graphics and audio hardware. CS Online made the game available to the players in South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia by making it entirely online accessible. The latest version named as Global offensive is still under the development stages and will be out soon.

CS became the foremost target for exploitation by hackers. Cheat codes were developed to have access to those corners of the game which would need certain eligibility conditions to be unlocked. This is the case with almost all the PC games and makers are in the process of making anti cheat programs to curb this very issue of exploitation.

As aforesaid, you can play as a terrorist or as an anti-terrorist. The objective of the game is to complete the mission campaign or to execute the opposite team of members. If you are on the anti-terrorist squad, you got to take care of the hostages and shoot the sociopaths simultaneously. The game takes you into different arenas like buildings, rooms, lawns and underground establishments making it creepy and intriguing with difference of ambience. Monetary rewards are dealt on each kill, rescue of hostages, diffusing a bomb etc. If you get killed, you remain a spectator throughout the round until you come back to life again. Spectators are generally allowed to view the online game in progress, but on some servers they are deprived of the same as these dead players can leak the location of living players to their teammates through other modes of communication.

Review Of Max Payne

Review Of Max Payne

A Hollywood flick has been made on this game, what more can you ask for to justify this game’s greatness? Still, just to write little about this amazing game is the least a game lover can do. Max Payne has even won a BAFTA award in a third person shooter action game genre. Developed by Remedy entertainment Max Payne was published by Gathering Developers in the year of 2001. The game was basically created for the PC users, but seeing the fanatic following; the makers dreamt further. Max Payne was later ready for PlayStation 2, X box and GameBoy advance but was published by Rockstar games. The game has taken its inspiration from Hong Kong action cinema, especially from the work of director John Woo and also from the novels based on death-lover detectives. As of 2011, this franchise has sold an approximate 7.5 million copies which is a staggering figure.

“A troubled NYPD cop is framed for murder finds himself being hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation”- IMDB one-liner says it all about the game play and its gruesome plot. It is a game about a man named Max Payne, who has nothing to lose as his family is already dead. Emotions are on a soar as the heart of this lead is filled with grievance and vengeance but should be on a run since he is being chased by three different groups of people, all wanting him dead. The game is shown in a cleverly structures storyline with easily comprehendible self-explanatory videos which makes you feel the pain and act like a pissed off Max Payne would do.

The surroundings, ambience and graphics look realistic at the same time, not requiring any high end hardware to support the functioning of its VFX. The moves of this lad are ambitious and elegant, giving it a Matrix feel to the gamers with his slow motion shooting capabilities. The splashing and oozing of blood through areas shot are magnificent. The game is designed for players who like strategic advancement and little details which sometimes are very vital to know are not neglected. The sound is quite engrossing and helps you get into the feel of the game. Max Payne is the most under rated game ever, but this does not deny its’ aficionados from loving and playing it. Many of us have grown up playing this game and can never ever get it out of our fond memory.

Review Of Medal of Honor

Review Of Medal of Honor

Medal of Honor is set to take you into the World War II zone without any delays. This is a FPS- first person shooter- game which insists on graphical representation and strategic advancements. MoH was firstly developed by DreamWorks interactive and published by Electronic Arts in the year of 1999, a year which has seen the spawn of a series of amazing games. The game was basically developed for the PlayStation game console but was later released for PC and other consoles as well. For every console, it has a series of games released which is astounding.

PC releases started with MoH- Allied assault in the year 2002, which was followed by pacific assault in 2004 and in 2007, we saw the great and the best version of the game come into existence- MoH Airborne. This version takes you in a transporter aircraft-C 47- and drops you at an allied combatant during an on-going World War II. You got to be careful while choosing to land as there are chances of you getting shot even before you could touch the ground. Its action from the word Go, and this game will never disappoint you as its VFX are out of the world. If adrenaline rush is your requirement, then this is the apt choice. You never know, the enemy can pop up from unimaginable places making you squeak involuntarily.

As aforesaid, the game play is wide open. You can do whatever you want and go wherever want; as this is a war nobody gives a damn about your whereabouts. It’s you who decides to make your existence count. If you go and hide yourself beneath a bunker, go ahead; nobody is going to find you out most probably, but you die of boredom anyway. The versatile artillery and weaponry is quite intriguing, and you seriously have to be accountable for your own ammunition as it might get hard finding a substantial refill. So, you got to maintain and use your bullets effectively.

The experience of playing MoH Airborne is amazing as it is very realistic when it comes to the background sound, graphics and armory. Your weapons can upgrade with every kill, which is again pretty realistic. You can actually feel your weapons getting more powerful and accurate which is not the case with other games that are only visual. Moreover, this game is less cinematic with a wide open game play, unlike the Call of Duty.
